FAMILY TIME CONCERTS - 2 PM BEFORE THE CONCERT

Won't you and your children join Dr. Bowden and the Terre Haute Symphony before each concert for a preview of the music with commentary by the music director? Help in ISU's Tilson Auditorium on the day of the concert, these free sessions (30 minutes) will introduce your family to the music of that night's concert in a casual manner. Following the Family Time event the orchestra will conduct its regular rehearsal in preparation for the evening concert.

Children's Concert for fourth & fifth grades

Each year the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, working with the school corporations in Vigo and surrounding counties, invites all 4th and 5th grade classes to attend its annual free Children's Concert. Attendance is now at nearly 4000 students from seven counties throughout the Wabash Valley.

This concert is designed to familiarize the children with the various orchestral instruments, how these instruments work together in an orchestra, and how to listen to and enjoy music with which they may be unfamiliar.

Realizing that "making music" can be fun encourages students to participate in school based music programs--orchestra, band, chorus and glee clubs. We are convinced that being introduced to various kinds of music at a young age adds a life-long cultural dimension to a student's education.

To ensure that all students may attend, families are not asked to contribute. The $20,000.00 cost of this concert is funded solely through grants and donations from foundations and financial institutions.
