We open our 85th Season with Mahler's Fifth Symphony - the most requested piece by our musicians since I arrived in 1997. Join us in September to hear this amazing work, followed by four fabulous concerts when we welcome outstanding guest artists Di Wu, Cathy Rund, Paul Bro, and Kate Hamilton for more Great Music - Close to Home.

Mahler's Powerful Symphony No. 5

Saturday  ▪  September 25, 2010 ▪  7:30pm

Our season begins with a high energy colorful march by Berlioz ands highlights an absolutely captivating instrument from times past called the serpent. This unusual instrument will be played by the Boston Symphony's Bass Trombonist, Douglas Yeo. The concert concludes with one of the most exhilarating and powerful orchestral works ever written, Mahler's tribute to love and life.

Di Wu Plays Tchaikovsky

Spectacular and world-renowned pianist, Di Wu, returns to Tilson stage to perform Tchaikovsky's thrilling and famous First Piano Concerto. Arguably the world's favorite concerto, this virtuosic tour-de-force is one of Di's most sensational calling cards.

Color for Your Ears

Paul Bro is widely acknowledged as one of the finest saxophonists in America today. Come hear the colorful sounds of this unique orchestral instrument in John Williams' memorable music from the movie, Catch Me If You Can. The orchestral textures and colors of Griffe's evocation of the "Pleasure-Dome" combine with one of Beethoven's most immediately appealing symphonies to tickle your ears and warm your heart.

Unforgettable: Great American Songs

Saturday    April 9, 2011 ▪  7:30pm

Kate Hamilton sings your favorite songs from Georgia on My Mind and Stardust to Moon River, Tonight, and Unforgettable. Among the represented composers are Gershwin, Bernstein, Sondheim, Rodgers, and Carmichael. It will be a memorable evening from the Great American Songbook!

 NOTE;  Regular season performances are held on the Indiana State University campus in Tilson Auditorium in Tirey Hall. Parking is conveniently located in the parking garage or ISU surface lots near Tirey Hall.
