The Texas Tenors join the THSO in a unique blend of country, classical, Broadway, and current pop music with breathtaking vocals, humor, and a touch of cowboy charm. Since appearing on America’s Got Talent in 2009, the group has released 5 albums, 2 PBS specials, 4 DVDs, and multiple singles that have earned them 3 Emmy Awards, multiple #1 debut albums on the Billboard Charts, and an induction into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in 2022. This is a concert you do not want to miss!
A new fundraiser hosted by the Terre Haute Symphony League! Artistry in Sound will feature a musical recital performed by the Angelus Duo centered around Paul Jenkins’ painting Phenomena Near Baber Woods on display at the Swope Art Museum. The peak of the recital will showcase the world-premiere of “…yet so close” written by Terre Haute native and award-winning composer Jack Nesser. Patrons will also enjoy a gorgeous display of hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar catered by The Saratoga.
Celebrating Terre Haute’s total solar eclipse in April 2024, the THSO joins the community’s A Total Eclipse of the Haute collaborative event. The symphony will perform a wide variety of musical styles including selections from The Planets by Gustav Holst, John Williams favorites like E.T. and Star Wars, music from Apollo 13 by James Horner, the X-Files theme, and much more heavenly music. Integrated video projections will take us out of this world!
Join the THSO String Quartet for Sunny Days & Starry Nights in Washington, IN on March 27th! This concert will commemorate the upcoming total solar eclipse happening in Indiana on April 8, 2024. Immerse yourself in an evening of beautiful string music that explores the wonders of our universe and the enigmatic realm of space. This is a FREE event, but seats are limited to 275. Theater concessions will be available for purchase. This event is sponsored by the Daviess County Community Foundation in partnership with Indiana Theater.

The THSO welcomes Brazilian phenom, Choro Das 3, to Hatfield Hall on the campus of Rose-Hulman this November! Featuring a talented trio of sisters, audiences will enjoy their lively and soulful performance. Choro Das 3 is also excited to welcome Terre Haute musicians, Solly Burton and Brent McPike.
When was the last time you heard the entire 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky? We all love the familiar ending complete with cannon shots, but this is your chance to come hear the complete work LIVE! The THSO will also feature Principal Oboist Rebecca McGuire performing Eric Ewazen’s stunningly beautiful concerto titled Down a River of Time. McGuire’s performance will be dedicated to Dr. Stephen Gage, a THSO Board Member and ISU School of Music professor who passed away in February 2023. In addition, the THSO will play two of Richard Strauss’ famous tone poems, Don Juan and Death & Transfiguration.
In preparation for the THSO’s 1812 Overture LIVE! event on November 4th, join THSO Fourth Horn, Layne Anspach, for a presentation with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) featuring an overview of historical and contextual information about concert repertoire. Concert repertoire includes Richard Strauss’ Don Juan and Death & Transfiguration, Eric Ewazen’s Down a River of Time for oboe and orchestra, and Tchaikovsky’s famous 1812 Overture in its entirety.

Did you know orchestral instruments did not always look or sound as they do today? The THSO is excited to feature four THSO musicians with Rose-Hulman’s Discovery Music Series on October 15, 2023 at the White Chapel for an afternoon recital featuring Baroque and Classical period specialists from the THSO. The program will include works performed on both modern instruments and period instruments to give audiences an opportunity to experience and understand the development of today’s modern clarinet and modern strings. Exciting young charismatic pianist, Drew Petersen, returns to perform Edvard Grieg’s gorgeous piano concerto. Petersen performed with the THSO on short notice in May 2021 and wowed audiences with his impeccable charm and phenomenal musicality. The evening opens with Florence Price’s bluesy, toe-tapping Juba Dance and concludes with the beautiful and lush melodies of Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2.

When Elina Rubio debuted as our THSO Concertmaster playing the solos in Scheherazade in 2021, the audience was abuzz with excitement. In our final concert, Elina will be featured in Brahms Violin Concerto. The Coleridge-Taylor piece is light and effervescent, and Tchaikovsky’s 4th Symphony is simply thrilling!!
