The performance will feature Angela Brown, world-renowned soprano, singing Sweet Little Jesus Boy, O Holy Night, My Simple Christmas Wish and more. Tickets are going really fast, so make plans soon to attend this festive musical celebration! Additional tickets will be released for purchase after November 20.

Angela Brown, soprano

"I am excited to begin the holiday season with the Terre Haute Symphony under the direction of my dear friend and musical collaborator, Maestro David Bowden,” said Ms. Brown. “It is such a beautiful opportunity for me because we have performed on many musical occasions throughout my career. I'm going to have lots of family and friends in the audience and I can't wait to make new friends in Terre Haute during this festive season."

The concert will open with Leroy Anderson’s Bugler’s Holiday, first recorded in 1954 by the composer.  Bugler’s Holiday is performed by a trio of trumpeters with orchestra. This work is one of Anderson’s best known and has been performed worldwide.  Anderson also has ties to Terre Haute and was initiated as an honorary member of the Gamma Omicron chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia at Indiana State University in 1969.  Samantha Johnson-Helms, THSO Principal Clarinet, opens the second half of the program as soloist in Celebrate Hanukkah!

Angela Brown personifies the ideal soprano: sheer vocal power; luxurious finesse; and shimmering, high pianissimos.  Her debut as Aida at the Metropolitan Opera catapulted her onto the world’s prestigious stages and headlines in the New York Times read: “At last an Aida,” and CBS Weekend News proclaimed: “the future of opera has arrived!”  Angela has been featured on six continents on stages such as the Lincoln center, National Opera of Paris, Capetown (South Africa) Opera, Hamburg Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, and more.  Angela has graced the stage in roles such as Aida, Addie Parker (Charlie Parker’s Yardbird), Amelia (Un ballo in Maschera), Elisabetta (Don Carlo), and Leonora (Il Trovatore).  To learn more about Angela, visit her website, angelambrown.com.

“Angela Brown is a mesmerizing artist – dramatic, charismatic, with an amazing voice,” said Bowden. “This is a terrific opportunity for local audiences to hear one of the great artists of our time perform with our outstanding local professional orchestra.”

This concert is proudly sponsored by First Financial Bank, Ross Elliot Jewelers, Robert L. Cowden, Laney Meis, Bill Fenoglio & Stephanie Salter.
