THSO Shares the Music of John Williams Saturday March 28
Michael Chu, violin
The Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra invites audiences to experience the unforgettable music of one of Hollywood’s greatest composers during our John Williams Celebration concert, taking place Saturday, March 28, at Tilson Auditorium at 7:30pm. Featuring some of the most iconic film scores of all time, this highly anticipated concert is nearly sold out and promises an evening of cinematic magic for audiences of all ages!
John Williams’ music has shaped generations of moviegoers, elevating films into cultural touchstones through his instantly recognizable melodies, sweeping orchestration, and emotional depth. This concert celebrates his extraordinary legacy with music from beloved films including Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, Superman, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Saving Private Ryan, Lincoln, and more.
Paul Bro, saxophone
The concert will also feature two special solo performances. Concertmaster Michael Chu will be featured in the deeply moving violin solo from Schindler’s List, one of Williams’ most poignant and personal scores, written in a restrained, elegiac style that underscores the film’s emotional weight and historical significance. Adding a jazz-inflected contrast to the program, Indiana State University Professor of Saxophone Paul Bro will be featured in Escapades from Catch Me If You Can. This score reflects Williams’ playful versatility, blending cool jazz elements with rhythmic drive to evoke the glamour and tension of the 1960s.
With tickets nearly sold out, audiences are encouraged to secure seats soon for this popular event celebrating the music behind some of the most enduring films in cinema history.
This concert is proudly sponsored by the Argentum Group at Morgan Stanley, Thompson Thrift, Ross Elliott Jewelers, Guarantee Roofing, and the Terre Haute Symphony League.
