Terre Haute Symphony Announces 26-27 THSO Presents Chamber Music Series
The Terre Haute Symphony is excited to announce our 2026-2027 THSO Presents Chamber Music Series! Our THSO Presents series aims to bring music and unique programs to different venues in the Wabash Valley while showcasing our talented musicians in intimate settings. This season's programming includes:
Autumn Winds at The Woods

As autumn arrives in the Wabash Valley, join the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra for an afternoon of chamber music inspired by nature, changing seasons, and folk traditions. Featuring the THSO Woodwind Quintet and String Quartet, Autumn Winds at the Woods pairs beloved works by Amy Beach, Vivaldi, Mark O'Connor, Peter Schickele, William Grant Still, Alexandra Molnar-Suhajda and more with contemporary reflections on the natural world. Presented in the magnificent Church of the Immaculate Conception at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, this concert offers a perfect blend of musical beauty, stunning architecture, and exceptional acoustics. VIP guests are invited to enjoy a post-concert reception with complimentary appetizers and a hosted bar.

Celebrate the season with THSO Presents! Holiday Brass, a festive evening filled with brilliance, warmth, and holiday cheer. This special chamber performance showcases the power and beauty of our Principal Brass and Percussion conducted by Music Director Roger Kalia, from the majestic Venetian fanfares of Giovanni Gabrieli to the serene beauty of Morten Lauridsen's O Magnum Mysterium. Audiences will enjoy beloved seasonal favorites including Joy to the World, Carol of the Bells, Sleigh Ride, and Leroy Anderson's jubilant A Christmas Festival, alongside charming classics such as March of the Toys, Infant Holy, Infant Lowly, and Sussex Mummers' Christmas Carol. The program also features David Watkins' Fanfare for Terre Haute, a stirring tribute to our community. Perfect for the entire family, this festive concert captures the spirit of the holidays through sparkling brass sonorities, vibrant percussion, and timeless seasonal melodies.

Buster Keaton's The General: Live Silent Film Score

Experience one of the greatest silent films ever made in a whole new way as members of the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra perform a live score composed by Andrew E. Simpson to Buster Keaton's classic comedy-adventure The General (1926). Led by Music Director Roger Kalia, this special event at Hatfield Hall pairs Keaton's masterful physical comedy, breathtaking train chases, and timeless storytelling with the excitement of live orchestral performance. The film follows railroad engineer Johnnie Gray as he chases his stolen locomotive, The General, through the Civil War, blending daring action sequences with Buster Keaton's trademark physical comedy. As the action unfolds on screen, THSO musicians will bring every moment to life, creating an immersive cinematic experience that captures the magic of both film and music. Perfect for movie lovers, music enthusiasts, and families alike, this unforgettable evening celebrates a landmark of American cinema through the power of live performance.
