Back by popular demand, the THSO is thrilled to return to the gorgeous Church of the Immaculate Conception at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods on October 5, 2025 at 4pm! This cathedral-like structure is an astonishingly beautiful space with superb acoustics. The 75-minute program will feature beautiful chamber music performed by THSO Principal Strings and Principal Woodwinds.

Valerie Coleman’s Seven O’Clock Shout provides an uplifting opener inspired by the tireless efforts of frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Join us for a joyful afternoon of chamber music that celebrates the spirit, stories, and soundscapes of America. Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring for 13 instruments is the centerpiece of this program with its radiant optimism and pastoral grace. John Williams’ Air and Simple Gifts, composed for President Obama’s inauguration, offers a poignant blend of tradition and cinematic lyricism. George Gershwin’s tender Lullaby reveals the composer’s early gift for melody and charm. Ascending Bird, arranged by Colin Jacobsen, takes us on a transcendent journey through Persian folklore, while Valerie Coleman’s Portraits of Langston paints vivid musical scenes inspired by the poetry of Langston Hughes. This diverse program weaves together classical, folk, jazz, and contemporary influences, inviting listeners into a rich and reflective musical landscape.

The Terre Haute Symphony League is excited to bring back Luminous Strings for TWO shows on Thursday, March 5, 2026 and Friday, March 6, 2026 at The Red Barn in Terre Haute, IN! Experience a live string quartet performing arrangements of your favorite rock and pop bands surrounded by candlelight. Plus, enjoy a cash bar featuring signature cocktails, light desserts, and appetizers. Doors open at 6:30pm. Concert begins at 7:30pm.

On July 31, 2025, at 6:00pm, the Terre Haute Symphony League presents Jazz at the Verve featuring trio Jazz Haute with THSO Principal Trombone Randy Mitchell, guitarist Brent McPike, and bassist Todd Gallagher at The Verve in Downtown Terre Haute! Join the THSO as we kick off our 100th season as the oldest professional symphony in Indiana with a fun and social evening complete with jazz music, pizza buffet, and cash bar.
On May 3, 2025 at 7:30pm the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra’s Conductor of 28 years, David Bowden, will step onto the podium for the last time as Artistic Director of the THSO during David’s Finale at Tilson Auditorium prior to his retirement from the orchestra at the end of June. The THSO will perform one of David’s favorite works, Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2, alongside Tchaikovsky’s famous Piano Concerto No. 1 featuring world-class pianist Sean Chen. Sean Chen most recently performed with the THSO in November 2019 and received rave reviews. The concert will open with Lumbye’s fun and energetic Champagne Galop, complete with cork pop!
The Wabash Valley Community Foundation has awarded the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra $11,000 to launch two new community engagement and education programs in Vigo County and Clay County beginning in Summer 2025. The THSO submitted two project grant applications that partner with the YMCA and Camp Navigate in Vigo County and Clay County Community Schools to share educational performances by small ensembles of THSO musicians for students.

The THSO’s 25-26 Season will feature Indian Tabla master Sandeep Das in a virtuosic concerto alongside Mahler’s massive Symphony No. 1 “Titan”, world-class pianist Fei-Fei performing Rachmaninoff’s gorgeous Piano Concerto No. 3, the return of David Bowden for our annual holiday concert in his new role as Principal Guest Conductor, a celebration of John Williams’ most beloved movie scores, and brothers Nikki and Timothy Chooi performing a Bluegrass inspired Double Concerto for two violins.
The THSO is honored to celebrate Dr. David Bowden's 28-year legacy with the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra during Bravo Maestro! on June 7, 2025 at the Terre Haute Convention Center for an elegant dinner and cabaret performance with singer and pianist Tony DeSare. Join the THSO for a final evening with Dr. Bowden as we say thank you for his leadership, artistic vision, and community impact prior to his retirement.
On March 29 at 7:30pm, the Terre Haute Symphony brings Broadway star Dan Domenech to Tilson Auditorium for Decades of Pop! Experience your favorite rock and pop songs by Queen, Journey, Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and more. The concert will be conducted by the THSO’s incoming Artistic Director-Designate, Roger Kalia, who will begin his tenure in July 2025 following David Bowden’s retirement.
On March 16, 2025, at 4pm, the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra will host “Double Concertos: Twice the Fun!” conducted by David Bowden as part of their THSO Presents! Chamber Series at Hatfield Hall on the campus of Rose-Hulman. The concert will feature five virtuosic soloists from the THSO performing stunning double concertos including J.S. Bach’s beautiful Concerto for Oboe and Violin, the brilliant Concerto for Flute and Harp by W.A. Mozart, and Paul Whear’s moving Elegy for MLK, Jr., for Oboe and English Horn. Samuel Barber’s familiar Adagio for Strings rounds out this 75-minute program.

On February 6, 2025, at 8:00 pm, the Terre Haute Symphony League presents Luminous Strings featuring the THSO String Quartet, performing British Rock Music showcasing music from artists such as The Beatles, Queen, Verve, Coldplay, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, U2, and Florence & The Machine at The Red Barn. Attendees and performers will be surrounded by hundreds of candles creating a unique atmosphere! A cash bar and light desserts will also be provided. All funds raised from ticket sales and sponsorships for this event will support the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, a 501c3 non-profit organization.
On December 7, 2024, at 7:30pm, the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, conducted by David Bowden, will perform their annual holiday concert, The Gift of Music, at Tilson Auditorium. Abigail Baggott, a delightful, charismatic singer, joins the THSO as they perform holiday favorites, including Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride, a jazzy Charleston Christmas, O Holy Night, Little Drummer Boy, a holiday sing-along, and a surprise Hanukkah clarinet feature.
